ABOUT JOHN MAINA

A Son of Starehe. A Servant of the People.

From the streets of Ngara to the halls of Parliament — a journey rooted in the people.

"I did not decide to run from a boardroom. I decided to run from the streets of Starehe — because I have seen what broken promises look like, and I refuse to make another one."

— JOHN MAINA
John Maina — DCP Parliamentary Candidate, Starehe

John Maina is a dedicated son of Nairobi, born and raised in Ngara — one of Starehe's six wards, and one of Nairobi's most densely populated communities. He grew up watching the constituency that shaped him struggle with problems that should have been solved decades ago: hawkers chased from the very streets that built this city, youth with education and no jobs, schools bursting at the seams, and residents in Landimawe and Ziwani living in conditions that no Kenyan citizen should accept.

He is not a newcomer to these streets. He did not discover Starehe during campaign season. For years he has worked closely with community groups across all six wards — Nairobi Central, Ngara, Pangani, Ziwani/Kariokor, Landimawe, and South B — listening to residents, attending barazas, documenting needs, and building relationships that are not transactional.

John Maina is running under the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP), led by H.E. Rigathi Gachagua, because DCP's philosophy of Skiza Wakenya — Listen to Kenyans — is not just a slogan. It matches how he has lived and worked in this constituency. He believes the crisis in Starehe is not a resource problem — it is a listening problem. When leaders stop listening, communities suffer. John Maina will be a different kind of MP.

WHY I AM RUNNING

Four reasons. One mission.

Starehe's hawkers and traders have been harassed long enough — they deserve dignity, designated zones, and legal protection.

Our 26 primary schools are overcrowded — some with 90 pupils per class — and no candidate in Starehe's history has fixed this.

Landimawe has been forgotten by every government — John Maina will put it first.

NG-CDF money has been spent without public accountability for too long — that ends on election day.

HOW I LIVE THE DCP VALUES

Inclusivity

My campaign team has representatives from every ward — and my parliamentary team will too.

MY VALUES

What I stand for.

Integrity

I will never use public office for personal gain.

Service

Starehe residents come before party politics, always.

Unity

All 6 wards get equal attention. Not just the vocal ones.

Measurable outcomes within the first 100 days.

DCP

Proudly running under the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) — Skiza Wakenya. Kenya's movement for genuine change.
